A Massachusetts-based firm plans to add 200 jobs in Wausau during the next three years.
Collaborative Consulting CEO Bill Robichaud announced in Wausau that the company plans to build a software development and support center. Robichaud was accompanied by Gov. Scott Walker and Wausau Mayor Jim Tipple at the announcement.
The company began their search in June and considered cities in seven states, including Wausau, for the facility. Officials still are looking for a site within the city.
Technology jobs have been outsourced for too long, and Collaborative Consulting is hoping to return them to U.S. workers, Robichaud said.
“We believe that this is the best way to do it, and it was Wausau that came out on top looking at seven different states,” he said.
The company plans to add 50 jobs in the first year of operation, 75 in the second year and 75 to 100 in the third year.
Tipple hailed the company’s decision as a “classic example of how it takes a whole community to attract a company to Wausau.”
The state’s Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation put forward $2.25 million in job tax credits and job training credits and the city of Wausau committed up to $450,000.
