Kris Gilmore, superintendent of the D.C. Everest Area School District, has been been named the state’s superintendent of the year by the Wisconsin Association of School District Administrators.
WASDA has been honoring top state superintendents for 25 years, measuring them on criteria such as how they meet the needs of students, their personal and organizational communcation skills, participation in community activities and their understanding of regional, national and international issues.
Since Gilmore was named superintendent in 2003, D.C. Everest has seen continual student improvement and high expectations, with improving scores on tests such as the Wisconsin Knowledge and Concept Exams and the ACT, according to a WASDA press release.
Gilmore will represent Wisconsin in the National Superintendent of the Year Program, sponsored by the American Association of School Administrators, which will be held in Houston in February.
